A new building for a youth community center

The project consists of 2 buildings connected by an external overhanging concrete slab. A core building with a multi-purpose space of 150 square meters, 2 classrooms, offices, services and a kitchenette, and a adjacent, lower building containing three additional classrooms. The circulation takes place on the exterior in order to save built space and reduce the construction cost while maximizing net area.

The buildings were designed to enable a large communal courtyard for activity and preservation of about 50 mature trees existing in the lot, while maintaining close ties between the various classrooms. The facade of the building is clad with “Jerusalem” stone, with elements of in-situ concrete, which give the compound a unique identity and connect the two buildings together.
